Doing Digital History

Digital tools, technologies, and applications have the potential to transform the ways historians do their work. In this class, we will explore the ways these can change our current intellectual, professional, and personal landscapes. We’ll take a look at history through the lenses of text, place, and image.

First, we’re going to explore, analyze, debate, and critique the ways in which technology has transformed (and is continually transforming) work in these areas of history by learning a variety of tools and technologies. Second, we’re going to investigate ways to presentation, publish, and disseminate history research in its many forms.

By the end of the semester, you will have created your own digital research project that engages with one of the class themes.
